HUARTE
Vitor Huarte was born in the north of Spain in 1991. Studied Business and Marketing in Madrid, London and Brazil. Later, he made a degree in Fashion Design at ESDIR school. As part of the Erasmus programme he moved to Porto in 2017, where he finished his degree in Fashion Design at ESAD, Matosinhos, in June 2018. “HUARTE is a Portuguese brand founded in 2019 that offers a mindful, modern outlook and stylish wardrobe both for men and women, as we believe that gender boundaries are blurred in the conception of our collections.”
MARCELO ALMISCARADO
Marcelo Almiscarado is a fashion designer based in Porto. After finishing his degree in fashion design at ESAD Matosinhos, he participated in several competitions, being the winner of the Fashion Design Competition, organised by MODAPORTUGAL in 2019, and the winner of the Bloom competition in 2020, now presenting collections on Portugal Fashion’s platform for young creatives, Bloom. Fashion is the creator’s chosen medium to explore his aesthetic expression, and sometimes the pieces presented in the collections take off completely from the practical sense associated with clothing. His Kitsch aesthetic combines traditional and even religious codes that are subverted by pop and industrial references in an attempt to understand his place among these antagonistic environments. Manual and handmade production techniques are usually combined with artificial materials and silhouettes and their family cultural heritage present in all designs serves as a means of interpreting their identity.
OPIAR
Artur Dias began his studies at the School of Arts Soares dos Reis and graduated in Fashion Design at Modatex, in Porto. Connected to the performative area since very young, he developed an interest and esteem for everything that is performative and artistic in Fashion, exploring its expressive and scenographic environment. After the presentation of three collections in the ModaLisboa contest Sangue Novo, Artur Dias currently integrates the Workstation platform, with the brand OPIAR, working the pieces based on the philosophy of singular work and sustainable Fashion. All products developed by the brand are made from deadstock, scraps or recycled and later upcycled materials. The process is entirely done by the designer, from the design to the patterns and the making of the pieces. This whole process, in addition to a greater proximity and work ethic, makes all the pieces unique and exclusive.
